Built on 320 diverse acres, the Merit Club provides a perfect venue for tournament golf, and in the year 2000, course owner Bert Getz had the opportunity to show it off by hosting the U.S. Women’s Open. “We feel this course is as beautiful and conducive to this kind of championship as any course in the country,” stated Getz. And the ladies would probably agree, as the winning total turned in by Karie Webb was over par for the tournament. The high numbers are a testament to the challenge and integrity of this magnificent track.
