With limited labor and operational resources this 18-hole, private club had always struggled to maintain quality conditions in its 72 bunkers. Working off a Bunker Reduction Plan, the club reduced its overall bunkers by 45% (to 42) while rebuilding them to a flat sand style that minimizes sand erosion and repair. Many bunkers were relocated and several replaced with bentgrass hollows to enhance the course challenge and strategic appeal. The new bunkers have resulted in a *20% reduction in daily bunker labor, requiring one less crewman and resulting in higher quality conditions.
